Jennifer Wight, Veterinary Nurse

Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing

Jennifer’s interest in animals started at a young age; especially when she got her first kitten “Lilly” at 10 yrs. She started working at her local Veterinary Clinic as a volunteer at 14yrs. It was clear that she had a passion for caring for animals and was soon taken on as a Kennel Hand and worked after school. She was quickly promoted to running the Cattery (next door to the Clinic) and after four years working there she left, moving to Australia from New Zealand with her family

In 2004, she was offered a part-time job at Riverside as a Kennel Hand whilst completing year 12 at Trinity College. At the completion of year 12, she commenced her study to become a Veterinary Nurse at TAFE whilst still working part time at the clinic. Jennifer worked at Riverside for 4 years before accepting a position at Pets Health in Brooklyn Park. Whilst working at Pets Health, Jen gained more confidence and achieved her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing working under Dr Peter Hutchison.

In March 2011, she was approached by Riverside to fill a position that was vacant. As she had always remained in close contact with her previous work colleagues at the clinic and it seemed the timing was right for her to return and settle back in Gawler with her husband.

In Jennifer’s spare time she enjoys her fitness, a fetish for shoes and generally shopping, however she still has time to dote over her menagerie- 4 Cats (“Mittens, Lunar, Mya and Moet”), Border Collie (“Cosby”) and a Rainbow Lorikeet (“Taylor”).
